After waited for an eternity and after lots of begging, I finally got my hands on the Chogokin Hover Pilder. I l-o-v-e-d this toy. Alas, it was not meant to be. That evening a relative or long lost family friend came over and their son also caught eye of the toy. Being insanely nice most of the time, my folks gave my spanking new hunk of metal and plastic to the brat. Even after so many decades, I am still pissed off about the incident.
Giving it away could have been fine if they promptly replaced yours. But it sounds like they didn't. That's a dick move.
